Yesterday was a very frusterating day for us all. We had planned to get going and 1 thing after another held us up. We felt like we were just getting kicked down and as soon as we could get a leg up we took another blow and got knocked down again. Found out the DMV in the cities got some of the license plates messed up so Jon spent several hours in Mankato dealing with that and a title that we had problems transfering. After that we found out we did not have the necessary DOT permits for oversize loads in MN and SD. So we got working on those, but there was no way we would get them back in time to leave on Tuesday. Frusterated and impatient we got the applications done for the permits, then it was just a waiting game till they got faxed to us. Yesterday afternoon there were some bad storms with hail and tornados, so the only thing I could come up with to be positive about not leaving was that at least we were not traveling in that weather.
We got the faxes in this morning! I was so excited and the guys were all just waiting at the shop ready to go. After some pictures, lots of hugs, and a few tears we were ready to hit the road. It has been going well so far and we are almost to Sioux Falls (we are not taking I-35). We got wireless internet right before we left, which is handy, I am updating this right from the truck. It is kind of slow, and hard to type since the road is kind of bumpy (please excuse any mistakes!) but is works well. It is great weather and there hasn't been a lot of traffic. Andy is leading in the white grain truck pulling 1 combine, then Jon and I in the yellow grain truck pulling another combine. Next is Dan and Chris in the semi with lowboy trailer carrying the tractor and grain cart. Pulling up the rear is Ben in the pickup and camper. 3 oversize loads and a freaking long camper we are quite a convoy. Stopped to tighten chains, use the potty, and grab a sandwich and now we'll be pulling into Sioux Falls, SD to meet up with Jeff and Ron and continue on our way to pick up Brian in Kansas. I will post pictures when I locate my camera cord and we are not on the road.
